Today, the EULEX Mission is commemorating the first anniversary of the death of Audrius Šenavičius, a Customs Officer from the Border Boundary Department North, who was killed in the line of duty in northern Kosovo. Joelle Vachter, Acting Head of Mission, laid a wreath at the site where he was shot.
"One year ago today, our colleague, Audrius Šenavičius, was senselessly murdered while doing his job in Kosovo. Today we are paying our respects to the life and memory of Audrius. His death was a tragic event for Audrius's family and the Mission. My thoughts remain with his wife and two sons who were left without a husband and father. We lost a valued member of our team. I appeal to any person who has any information that could be of assistance to come forward", said Joelle Vachter.
EULEX staff observed a minute of silence to commemorate Audrius.
Audrius Šenavičius was a EULEX Customs Officer who worked as part of the regular shifts at the northern gates. His first deployment with the Mission was between April 2010 and May 2011 as Customs Revenue Officer and he began his second deployment as a Customs Officer in August 2012. Before his deployment with EULEX, he was a Senior Inspector for the Lithuanian Customs Department in Lithuania.
