Today, the Acting Head of the European Union Rule of Law Mission, Joelle Vachter, and the Head of the European Union Office/European Union Special Representative in Kosovo, Samuel Žbogar, met in Mitrovica North with the Mayor of Mitrovica North, Goran Rakić, Mayor of Leposavić, Dragan Jablanović, Mayor of Zvečan/Zveçan Vučina, Janković, the Chair of the Municipal Assembly of Zubin Potok, Nemanja Jakšić, the Chair of the Municipal Assembly of Mitrovica North, Ksenija Božović and the Head of the Management Team for the Association of Serb-majority Municipalities, Ljubomir Marić.
Issues of mutual concern regarding security of citizens and the rule of law in northern Kosovo were discussed during the meeting, where the EU representatives also took the opportunity to remind the participants about the closely-synchronised EU presence in Kosovo.
Ms Vachter stated "EULEX is part of the larger EU family in Kosovo and represents a key plank of the EU's overall comprehensive policy here."
Mr Žbogar said: "In the meeting today I expressed the full support of the European Union Office to EULEX in carrying out its mandate in northern Kosovo. Improvements in the rule of law will lead to improvements in the quality of life for all citizens in Kosovo and contribute positively to Kosovo's European future."
