Today, an International pre-trial judge at the Basic Court of Pristina granted the request of a EULEX prosecutor from the Kosovo Special Prosecution Office (SPRK) to extend detention on remand for N.K. until 7 July 2014.
N.K. was arrested in May 2013 based on an order issued by an International prosecutor from SPRK, who initiated an investigation into the case.
The defendant is being investigated for Organized Crime, Murder and Drug Trafficking. These are the same offences he has been investigated for by the state authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Pre-Trial Judge found that the SPRK has established a convincing and grounded cause to believe that a threat of violence exists justifying an exceptional extension of detention on remand for further two month.
The parties have the right to appeal this decision.
