The remains of forty six (46) individuals, handed over this week to their families by the Department of Forensic Medicine (DFM), were buried today. Twenty seven (27) individuals were handed over to the Berisha and Bytyqi families from Suhareke/Suva Reka on Monday (24 March), while the following day the families from the village of Krusha e Vogel/Mala Krusa received the remains of nineteen (19) individuals.
The Berisha and Bytyqi missing persons were found in 2001 in Batajnica, Serbia, while the missing persons from Krusha e Vogel/Mala Krusa were found in 2003 in Shiroke/Siroko, Suhareke/Suva Reka, and in 2012 during DFM's field operation at the Lubizhde/Ljubizda Firing Range in Prizren municipality.
To date, DFM has conducted 445 field operations, during which 247 individuals were recovered and the remains of 361 individuals were handed over to their families, of which 269 were listed as missing persons.
