A panel of three EULEX judges at the Basic Court in Mitrovica today found three persons guilty of a war crime. A fourth person was acquitted.
S.G., R.G. and H.G. were found guilty of a war crime against the civilian population by the murder of G.B. on 18 June 1999 in Skenderaj/Srbica medical centre. The Court found the defendants not guilty of the murder of V.B. and the wounding of I.V. and M.V. in Skenderaj/Srbica on 18 June 1999. The Court took note of the serious nature of the crime and the violation of the sanctuary of the medical centre in sentencing each of the convicted defendants to 12 years imprisonment.
B.S. was acquitted on the charge of assisting the perpetrators after the offence, because the Court found that this offence was not proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
This case was prosecuted by a EULEX prosecutor from Kosovo's Special Prosecution Office (SPRK).
