A EULEX special prosecutor from the Special Prosecution Office of Kosovo has filed an order to conduct investigations against eight suspects. The eight individuals are being investigated for the criminal offences of organized crime, trafficking in persons, grievous bodily harm, abusing official position of authority, fraud and trading in influence.
This new inquiry is based upon investigations carried out in the Medicus case, as well as further findings during the trial phase. Both revealed grounded suspicions that the abovementioned suspects acted in co-perpetration or were directly or indirectly instrumental to the members of the criminal organized group in the commission of serious offences, i.e. trafficking in persons for the purpose of organ removal.
It is alleged that, without the support or complicity of these suspects, the members of the criminal group at Medicus would not have been able to carry out preparations, essential elements of actus reus (criminal acts), achieve intended results or attempt to cover their unlawful actions by casting a seemingly state of legality.
