The EULEX Head of Mission, Bernd Borchardt, has finished his first official trip to Belgrade with a meeting with the President of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolić. During his visit, he also met the Serbian Prime Minister, Ivica Dačić, and the first Deputy Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vučić.
"Cooperation in the rule of law area is crucial in combating crime. Just as crime can have a regional dimension, so the fight against it, has to have a regional dimension. The talks were useful in this respect.," said Mr Borchardt.
Among the issues discussed were enhanced cooperation, the situation in northern Kosovo, EULEX's support to the implementation of agreements reached in the EU-facilitated Pristina-Belgrade Dialogue. Mr Borchardt also met the Director of the Serbian Office for Kosovo, Aleksandar Vulin, EU Ambassadors, representatives of civil society, and the media.
