On 13 March 2012, a mixed panel of two EULEX judges and one local judge at the Supreme Court partially granted an appeal of an individual sentenced by Mitrovicë/Mitrovica District Court in a drugs-related case.
M.J. was sentenced by Mitrovicë/a DC in May 2011 for the criminal offences of unauthorized purchase, possession, distribution and sale of dangerous drugs and psychotropic substances, and unauthorized ownership, control, possession or use of weapons to an aggregate punishment of one year and six months of imprisonment. The Supreme Court modified the penalty to four months of imprisonment, which has been suspended for one year, and a fine of four hundred Euros.
The time spent in detention on remand in August 2007, and the time spent under house arrest in September in the same year are to be credited.
In 2007 at the Roma Camp in Mitrovicë/Mitrovica, M.J. was caught buying six bags of marijuana (25.5 grams in total) and in his possession were found 364 bullets.
