Today, the Head of EULEX, Xavier de Marnhac, visited the border crossing at Hani i Elezit/Đeneral Janković, where he met Kosovo border police officers, and customs officers of Kosovo and EULEX.
During the visit, de Marnhac was informed about the conditions, facilities, border management system, cross border cooperation, and work that the customs and border police are doing.
The Head of the EULEX Customs Component Michael Marsden, the Deputy Head of the EULEX Police Component Rene Boumendil, and Fisnik Visoka the Chief of border crossing, and Bedri Berisha the KP commander of the border crossing point were also present.
De Marnhac said Kosovo customs and police officers had a very good opportunity to gain experience and knowledge whilst working with their international counterparts.
“Last week we had a very important visit by Cecilia Malmstrom, the EU Commissioner for Home Affairs regarding the visa liberalization process. I’m sure that Kosovo customs and police officers will play a crucial role in that process. EULEX is ready to help as much as we can,” said de Marnhac.
