EULEX Kosovo strongly condemns last night’s attack in north Mitrovicë/Mitrovica a on the vehicle of a member of EULEX staff. An explosive device was detonated underneath the member of staff’s car which was parked near the EU House. Thankfully, no one was injured but the car was severely damaged. Other nearby buildings and vehicles were slightly damaged.
“This was a clear attempt at intimidation against this member of staff and the mission as a whole. It was a criminal attack against the European Union’s rule of law mission in Kosovo and, as such, is unacceptable,” said Head of EULEX, Xavier de Marnhac.
An investigation has begun. Those responsible will be pursued and brought to justice.
EULEX staff continue to operate across the north of Kosovo at the Gates, at the court house, in the EU House and on patrol. We will continue to do this in the interests of the rule of law and for the benefit of the vast majority of law-abiding citizens living in the area.
