On the occasion of the Anti-Corruption week in Kosovo, EULEX would like to reiterate that fighting and most importantly preventing corruption are pivotal for a democratic society.
EULEX, throughout its mandate with its executive and strengthening functions, has worked closely with Kosovo Institutions to tackle this problem. EULEX continues to provide specialized trainings and expertise to its local counterparts, in the path towards best European practices and standards.
EULEX Head of Mission Alexandra Papadopoulou stressed that the fight against corruption remains imperative for rule of law institutions. “EULEX within its current mandate will continue to provide assistance to strengthen the fight against corruption and help in the establishment of transparent and accountable institutions in Kosovo. EULEX supports all Institutions which enforce the rule of law in Kosovo, and particularly the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA) which plays an important role in this fight. ACA should be safeguarded from any interference in order to fulfil its mandate,” Ms. Papadopoulou said.
