01 April 2014

EULEX donated ten Nissan Patrols to the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to support the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine.

The handover ceremony was attended by Sean Kernis, EULEX Head of Technical Services and by Tamas Magda, Head of Administration and Finance to the OSCE Mission in Kosovo.

Sean Kerins said "EULEX, given the acquiescence of its Brussels hierarchy is always willing to assist whenever there are opportunities to do so, and I hope that this donation will increase the capacity of the OSCE to fulfill its duties".

Tamas Magda from OSCE thanked the representatives of the EULEX mission for their help and support. "This donation will prove to be very useful for the OSCE in general and will contribute towards a more efficient work of this organization".

Kernis announced that if requested, more vehicles might be donated to the OSCE in the coming months.

The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine will gather information and report on the security situation, establish facts in response to incidents, establish contacts and facilitate dialogue on the ground to reduce tension and promote normalisation of the situation.
