On 30 January, the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) hosted a group of 13 Blue Book Trainees of the Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR), who visited Kosovo to familiarize themselves with the work the European Union does on the ground.

The Head of Mission, Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, welcomed the trainees and highlighted how the role of EULEX is in line with EU’s integrated approach concept. He also briefed them on the main challenges faced by Kosovo in the rule of law.

The trainees also received a detailed brief by the Head of EULEX’s Press and Public Information Office and Spokesperson, Ioanna Lachana, who explained in detail the Mission’s work and mandate, replying to several questions posed by the curious and lively audience, with a particular focus on EULEX’s engagement in gender mainstreaming.

EULEX’s Special Assistant to the Deputy Head of Mission and former Blue Book Trainee, Joakim Frendin, pointed out how the Blue Book traineeship was an extremely valuable experience to start his professional career in the European Union and shared useful tips with the enthusiast visitors.
