On 17 February, Ireland's national public service broadcaster, RTÉ, published an interview of the Head of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, who commented on the tensions that spiked in northern Kosovo at the end of 2022.

"There was a very tense standoff for about three weeks which, in our view, was the most serious security situation we have witnessed here in Kosovo for the past ten years," said Wigemark, warning that, although the situation has been calmer in the recent weeks, a "general sense of volatility" still persists.
