On 12 May, EULEX justice personnel working in the Kosovo Appellate Court handed over the donation of practical manuals about the development of the practice of the ICTY to the President of Appellate Court, Tonka Berisha.
Gus de Witt, Officer in Charge, Office of the Registrar Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals in, Hague, Netherlands said, as the ICTY moves towards the completion of its mandate, its legal successor the Mechanism for International Criminal Tribunals (MICT) stands ready to continue to cooperate and assist counterparts in the region. In this regard, I am extremely pleased that we were able to assist the Court of Appeals of Kosovo by donating the ICTY Manual on Developed Practices in the Albanian language. The Manual is a very useful reference tool which encapsulates the most important operating practices developed by the ICTY over the past twenty years, and it is particularly aimed at supporting domestic judiciaries in their prosecution of war crimes.
The aim of this donation is to enrich the library of the Appellate Court and also to give a better possibility to the judges to consult various literature when facing problem or dilemmas in the scope of their work.
