Today 30 November, EULEX hosts a two-day training for the newly appointed Gender Focal Point structure to further enable the Mission to promote gender equality and to implement EU gender policy in line with UN Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace and Security.
“EULEX maintains a strong commitment to gender equality, human rights, the empowerment of women and girls, and the eradication of gender based violence – these are fundamentally European values,” EULEX Head of Mission Ms. Papadopoulou said.
The Gender Focal Points structure is an important gender mainstreaming mechanism embedded within the entire mission whose aim is to improve the outreach of the gender advisor and to include a gender perspective directly in their respective units’ work.
Over the course of the training, Gender Focal Points will learn why a gender perspective is relevant to EULEX, identify key components of EU policy on Women, Peace and Security and learn how to apply gender-equality tools throughout the Mission.
