Yesterday, 12 young women from Global Girl Media Kosovo were received in EULEX Headquarters for a study visit. Under the umbrella of Kosova Live, Global Girl Media Kosovo offers training to young women from public high schools and universities in journalistic techniques, social media managing and video making.
They were received by officers from the Press and Public Information Office, the Gender Advisor and a few EULEX interns and were given a presentation of EULEX’s mandate and communication strategy.
Dragana Nikolic-Solomon, Head of Press and Public Information office, said “It was a great opportunity to meet the young women involved in Global Girl Media Kosovo and to hear about their experiences. We’ve come a long way. I think it’s important to continue to empower women for their voices to be heard, not only in Kosovo but in the region’.
The women then engaged with EULEX in an in-depth conversation on gender equality, the image of women in Kosovar media and shared their experiences of working as young journalists in the media world in Kosovo.
As Lina Andeer, the Gender Advisor, stated “Gender equality is everyone’s responsibility and it is important to enable women to make their voices heard and to challenge gendered stereotypes”.
