Did you know that you can do your internship at EULEX? Let Jennifer Roberts, our former intern from the United Kingdom, share her experience about this opportunity!
Jennifer holds a BA in German and Russian language from the University of Bristol and an MA in Human Rights and Democratisation from the European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation in Venice. After years of working at the British Council in Austria, she decided to try herself out in a new environment, at EULEX.
She interned at the Mission’s Project Cell last year where she received valuable insights on how to manage projects. “I assisted the Project Officer in drafting project proposals and meeting with different departments to encourage the submission of new proposals. On a day-to-day basis, I ensured that the ongoing projects were running smoothly”, she said, recalling her activities.
During her time as an intern, she also gained experience in a mission environment. “I think that it is hugely beneficial to experience working in a CSDP mission, such as EULEX, as it highlights many core issues surrounding local ownership”. She also emphasizes that the internship helped her understand the complexities of the region and everyday life in Kosovo better – a place she became very fond of.
“If you are willing to take initiative, there are many opportunities to make great connections,” notes Jennifer who is currently doing a fellowship at the OSCE/ODIHR’s Human Rights Department in Warsaw.
