Yesterday an indictment was filed at the Basic Court in Prishtinë/ Priština, charging two individuals with the offence of Trading in Influence. The allegation relates to the privatization of 91 hectares of land in the area of the village of Muzakaj, Obiliq/ Obilić that took place in May 2009. The two defendants are alleged to have accepted an offer of substantial sums from a syndicate of five individuals in return for the defendants exerting an improper influence over the decision-making of official persons within the Privatisation Agency of Kosovo (PAK) so as to ensure that the bid that was tendered for the land during the privatisation process be selected as the winner.
The case is being prosecuted by an international prosecutor from the Kosovo Special Prosecution Office (SPRK).
