The Head of EULEX, Xavier de Marnhac, visited today the Kosovo Special Prosecution Office (SPRK) today to render his full support to the prosecution’s work in consolidating the rule of law in Kosovo by bringing high profile cases to trial. Xavier de Marnhac met with EULEX prosecutors, the Acting Head of SPRK Eduard Gueroff, and the Deputy Head of the SPRK, Sevdie Morina.
“I thought it was a good time to once again express my gratitude and to support the important work they have been undertaking under the supervision of Isabelle Arnal for the last few years”, said de Marhnac. “As you maybe know, Isabelle has been appointed to a new and important position by the French Ministry of Justice. I hope that SPRK will continue to build cases that can be brought to trial”, de Marnhac added.
At a press point following his visit to the SPRK, the Head of EULEX highlighted the importance of the Constitutional Court’s clarification of MPs’ immunity.
“As you have probably noticed, yesterday Brussels made a statement affirming their strong support for the need for clarification on this matter”, de Marnhac told journalists. “We are still working on that. We will try to do our best to find a way to get this clarification as it is important for Kosovo and the rule of law”, he added.
The Head of EULEX added that it was very important for Parliament to be involved in this process because it concerned MPs.
“I have to make it very clear: we are not dealing with a specific case, but we want to have a general clarification”, de Marnhac concluded.
