The EUSR fully supports the work undertaken by EU’s Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo, EULEX, in maintaining its uninterrupted presence at the Gates 1 and 31 in Northern Kosovo since 9 December 2008.

EULEX is committed to ensuring a single customs area for all of Kosovo.

EULEX is providing assistance to the Kosovo authorities in enabling customs control and an effective collection of customs revenues throughout Kosovo in accordance with EU standards and best practice.

In line with its mandate EULEX is committed to further improve the work of customs throughout Kosovo, and to restore full customs controls at Gates 1 and 31, in order to improve revenue collection and prevent smuggling of goods and tax evasion.
